Pinot Grigio is uncomplicated and relaxing.  It should be fresh, crisp and taste like sweet ripe apples and golden pears.  There should be no oak, no tannins and no cellaring involved.  The texture is delicate and light, and the acidity should be refreshing.  You want to bring it home and serve tonight with lighter foods like white pastas, poultry, seafood, vegetarian fare and cheeses.

Chianti is earthy and comforting.  It should be warm, soothing and taste like juicy, perfectly ripe red fruits with a hint of caramel and vanilla from aging in lovely oak barrels.  The texture is more complex, but balanced acidity makes it food’s perfect partner.  You want to bring it home and serve  tonight with more rugged foods such as red pastas, burger, meaty pizzas, beef,  roasts, hearty soups, braises and game.
